Where to Eat, Drink & Unwind During NYFW

Where to Eat, Drink & Unwind During NYFW

September 10, 2021— Urban romance was the theme of Michael Kors’
Spring/Summer 2022 Collection, which took place this morning at 10 AM in New York
City. From the location at Tavern on the Green in the heart of Central Park, to a
performance by musical star Ariana DeBose, to the spotlight given the charitable
organization God’s Love We Deliver, and of course, the clothes themselves, the show
was a celebration of love.

“I think we’re all ready to focus on the simple, powerful pleasures of love—romantic
love, love for one another, love for the places that sustain us, which in my case is New
York City,” says Michael Kors. “It’s a special thrill to celebrate the resilience and rebirth
of the city and the fashion industry with a live runway show. This collection pays
homage to everything I love about spring in the city—the energy, the mix of people, the
romance and laid-back glamour.”

After arriving at Tavern on the Green, guests made their way to the terrace, which had
been transformed into a peaceful oasis of lush greenery, including trees, overgrown
vines and a profusion of roses. On each seat was one of Chuck’s Famous Brownies, a
decadent sweet from God’s Love We Deliver for guests to enjoy.

A live musical performance by actress Ariana DeBose set the tone for the presentation
as models including Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Precious Lee, Natasha Poly, Adut
Akech and Irina Shayk walked the sunlit runway. DeBose, who wore Michael Kors
Collection for her performance, appeared in the original cast of Hamilton as well as such
notable Broadway shows as Motown The Musical, Pippin and Summer: The Donna
Summer Musical, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. She starred in Ryan
Murphy’s Netflix adaptation of the hit Broadway musical The Prom, and will play Anita in
Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated reimagining of the Academy Award-winning
musical West Side Story.

Included on the runway: a special cashmere sweater designed as an homage to God’s
Love We Deliver, an organization near and dear to Michael’s heart. Founded by Ganga
Stone and Jane Best in 1985, God’s Love cooks and home-delivers free medically
tailored meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses
throughout the New York City metropolitan area. In March 2020, they were named an
essential services provider, and are now cooking and delivering more than 10,000
meals a day. All proceeds from the sale of this sweater will go to God’s Love.
Additionally, the Michael Kors company is proud to support its longstanding relationship
with God’s Love and commemorate Ganga Stone’s legacy with a donation to the
organization.

“For this collection, I was really thinking about what love means to me and I immediately
thought of God’s Love We Deliver,” says Kors. “I first started working with them in the
late 1980s when AIDS was decimating NYC, and the design community in particular.
Since then, I’ve seen how they’ve been there for the city during the toughest moments,
showing compassion and delivering food to people in need. That simple act of bringing
someone a hot plate of food—that’s love.”

The Spring/Summer 2022 Michael Kors Collection runway show was livestreamed
