Dr. Martens has recently announced on Mar. 17 their collaboration with master engraver King Nerd. The collection features an embellished 1460 boot and 1461 shoe etched with designs from King Nerd.

King Nerd: Artist of Engraving

King Nerd, as known as Johnny Dowell, is an artist based in London that specializes in unique, cutting-edge engravings. The master engraver has been doing his work for over 15 years and has engraved his intricate designs on way more than things than shoes. He has collaborated with companies such as Jaguar, Omega, Harley Davidson and G-Shock.

Dr. Martens x King Nerd: The Collection

Keeping with the traditional edge and design of Dr. Martens shoes, the 1460 boot and 1461 shoe are completely unique to the brand.

The 1460 boot is constructed with tough, smooth leather with silver engraved metallic elements. The boots feature a Smoke DMS sole and yellow wilt stitching. This style of boot became extremely popular a few years ago and has since kept its attraction. The boot gives off very tough, grungy vibes but wearers find ways to adapt Dr. Martens’ classic boots into their own style.

As for the 1461 shoe, it is the more traditional of the two, rather than the military-style boot Dr. Martens is known for.  The 1461 shoe is also made of smooth, tough leather but instead features gold engraved metallic accents. In true Dr. Martens fashion, the boots contain the same Smoke DMS soles and yellow welt stitching.

The plating on the shoes gives this collection an edge that Dr. Martens has not seen before. Both shoes have intricate bespoke designs engraved on the toe, heel and lace of the shoe.

The collection is out of stock right now however when it comes back, you can find the shoes on Dr. Martens’ website. The 1460 boot goes for $260 and the 1461 shoe goes for $230.
