Chinese Streetwear Label, Dakun x Liu Yong, Debuts at NYFW

Dakun x Liu Yong debuted at NYFW: The Shows with their “Eastern Legends” streetwear collection for women, men, and kids this evening at Spring Studios proving that Chinese designers are the trailblazers of street fashion.

Traditional Eastern culture has influenced the fashion industry profoundly, and Liu Yong took this influence, particularly Taoism– one of the most powerful cultures in Asia, into his atelier as the inspiration for this season’s Dakun x Liu Yong runway show. The Dakun name contains the symbolic meaning of Taoism, which represents the blended Chinese ancient culture with new street style trends – the mystery behind the “Eastern Legends” collection.

Liu Yong’s inspiration came across with luxurious fabric coatings, knitted borders, and intricate edging on the garments. Street elements were apparent with the materials used and strategically placed graphics and logos. Male, female, and the cutest children’s looks came down the catwalk in edgy, futuristic reds, army green prints, and black. Accessories like sock slide on sneakers and architectural backpacks complemented Liu Yong’s anorak, hoody, and sweat pant pieces.

The brand name, “DAKUN” originated from a Chinese legend within Huaxia civilization. The designer, Liu Yong draws inspiration from ancient Chinese culture and focuses on designing in a novel way. The design of DAKUN combined with casual luxurious materials and interesting fabrications has make Liu Yong one of the most prolific designers sought after by Chinese youth and fashion notables. By using excellent fabrication and fun visual design, DAKUN aims to display the unique lifestyle of Chinese young generation to the world, who have courage to challenge the traditions and eager to create their new era.
