Bloomingdale’s Brings California Cool To NYC With An Immersive West Coast Inspired Pop-Up
This spring, Bloomingdale’s is bringing a dose of California sunshine to New York City—no plane ticket required. For eight weeks, the retailer is hosting an immersive pop-up dedicated to the spirit of the West Coast, blending fashion, culture, and a little bit of playful nostalgia into one vibrant retail experience inside its flagship store.
The pop-up celebrates California’s unmistakable influence on style. Known for its effortless energy, sun-soaked palettes, and relaxed approach to dressing, West Coast fashion has long carried a sense of freedom that is distinctly its own. Bloomingdale’s channels that energy through a thoughtfully curated lineup of more than 70 brands and over 270 exclusive pieces, each drawing inspiration from California’s landscapes, creative energy, and effortless, laid-back lifestyle.
What really makes the installation stand out, though, isn’t just the clothes—it’s the atmosphere. The space feels playful, immersive, and unmistakably California from the moment you step in. There’s a nostalgic mac and cheese pop-up serving comfort food with a fun twist, while on-site embroidery stations give shoppers the chance to personalize their purchases. A photo booth and a series of colorful, Instagram-worthy installations invite guests to slow down, snap a few photos, and soak in the carefree energy of it all. It turns the shopping experience into something more than just browsing racks—it’s about taking your time, having fun, and enjoying the moment.

The fashion, of course, is still the centerpiece. The pop-up showcases exclusive capsules from a lineup of California-based labels, each offering their own take on the West Coast aesthetic. Staud founder Sarah Staudinger introduces “Of the Pacific,” a collection designed to capture Los Angeles’ relaxed coastal spirit. The pieces feel polished yet approachable, blending laid-back silhouettes with an elevated sensibility that mirrors the rhythm of L.A. living.
Denim favorite FRAME channels classic California style through breezy crochet textures and vintage-inspired graphics, while AGOLDE partnered with the Tupac Foundation to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic track California Love by Tupac Shakur—a tribute to the artist’s lasting impact on both music and West Coast culture.
Elsewhere, brands including STAMPD, Vince, Nahmias, Aya Muse, and Reformation round out the assortment with pieces that move seamlessly between streetwear, minimalist tailoring, and effortless everyday staples.
Beyond the racks, Bloomingdale’s is also hosting a series of special “Saturdays at Bloomingdale’s: California Love” events that bring even more West Coast energy to the store. One standout moment includes a celebration of All Eyez on Me by Tupac Shakur, marking 30 years since its release with a special collaboration featuring AGOLDE and Hollywood Bowl. Guests can experience an exclusive live performance by a five-piece ensemble from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with sets scheduled for 2 PM and 4 PM.
The weekend programming continues throughout the pop-up with interactive moments and brand activations across the floor. Skincare brand Augustinus Bader invites visitors to discover its science-backed formulas through personalized skin analysis sessions while also offering custom-painted tote bags. Meanwhile, Los Angeles health favorite SunLife Organics brings its organic café menu—including smoothies and açai bowls—to the flagship for a refreshing taste of the West Coast wellness scene.
Luxury jewelry house David Yurman adds a poetic twist, offering shoppers the chance to receive a custom-crafted poem with their purchase, while skincare innovator Dr. Barbara Sturm hosts expert-led consultations alongside an interactive gumball machine filled with skincare surprises. Over at Longchamp, guests can stop by a juice cart for refreshments and styling while browsing the brand’s latest collection inspired by a sun-drenched Parisian summer.
Taken together, the pop-up captures what makes California culture so magnetic. It’s not just about fashion—it’s about creativity, community, and the feeling that style should be as relaxed and expressive as the place that inspired it.
For New Yorkers looking to escape the city without leaving it, Bloomingdale’s has created something that feels part fashion destination, part cultural moment. And for the next eight weeks, California cool officially has a temporary home on the East Coast.
