Bibhu Mohapatra  creates regal realness for the modern day woman

This season Bibhu Mohapatra A/w 20 collections are filled with elegance. Inspired by the modern Indian woman, Bibhu Mohapatra debut his newest collection at New York fashion week on February 11, 2020.  Tying together the history of women throughout the many different dimensions and changes Indian culture. Also inspired by the many strong women in his life. Bibhu Mohapatra with his friend luxury jewelry designer Ranjana Khan to infuses colorful feather pieces, reflecting Khan’s dynamic personality. Both wanting to pay homage to the beautiful and regal women of Indian. Here at the Garrette report want to get a deeper understanding BiBhu Mohapatra inspiration for this collection season so we interviewed Mohapatra and the luxury jewelry designer Ranjana Khan to give all detail on the collection. Backstage with both designers Bibhu and Ranjana, I first had the privilege to speak Ranjana on his partnership for this season runway show. When speaking to Ranjana

spoke about his partnership with Bibhu Mohapatra for his runway shows for the “fifth season .” How this season collection is matched with His latest jewelry collection “ the empress,  he spoke how to keep in step with season collection Influenced by Indian poet Amrita Pritam’s novel Pinjar, a story of a young Indian woman, Paro, abducted by a man with the backdrop of the partition of India, the collection is a celebration of today’s resilient women, who demonstrate their strength and courage these are things that are design had to embody”.

 

When looking at the Ranjana khan empress jewelry collection some pieces completely stand out one of them being the “ear jacket”. First, introduced last year at the Oscars on red the carpet says Ranjana. This sophisticated earpiece is stand out gem because of the illusion of floating without being attached to the ear says the designer. When speaking to the designer Bibhu Mohapatra about his newest collection.  Bibhu says that he super excited to be showing namesake collection again at nyfw, to be able to do it with friends and family he’s is super grateful. The designer goes on to say that his American dream was to create a fashion line after his namesake, this collection comes inspiration women of India but more especially an Indian poet by the Influenced by Indian poet Amrita Pritam’s novel Pinjar, a story of a young Indian woman, Paro, kidnapped by a man tells the story of the partition of India, the collection is a celebration of today’s resilient women, who demonstrate their strength,  courage, and empowerment ”. This collection showcases beautiful woven textiles infused with Indian traditional fabrics creating a modern silhouette. The collection also features embroidered embellishments, intricate surface treatments, custom laces, metallic foiled tulle, luxe cashmere, and velvets.
