NYC Based Fashion Brand “Abel Honor New York” Releases NEWEST Collection

 

The New York based fashion brand, Abel Honor New York, have released their Avant-Contention collection. This collection is just only the company’s second released clothing launch. The Avant-Contention collection went live on June 25, 2021.  Abel Honor New York created this line inspired by the exploration between the connection of “punk movement and sustainable luxury.” The designer of AHNY, Kate Wasserbach, explored many ways to gain inspiration for this collection. Then, there it was. The former Sex Pistols singer, Johnny Rotten, became her muse. The rest was history, that’s when the Avant-Contention collection came to be.

A very great detail about this collection is that its pieces are entirely made of reused fabrics. AHNY found a way to bring life to clothes that were left behind. Just like true punk fashion, the Avant-Contention collection has a selection of dark colored clothing with some graphics to grab the eye. This shows relation to the singer, Johnny Rotten, who was known for his rebellious style. What made him stand out was his spiky, eye catching hair and his vivid clothing choices. However, Wasserbach made different, smart choices for her collection. She found ways to make punk style into something classy and elegant.

 

 

Here are some looks of the Avant-Contention collection (pictured above). The male and female model are posing with some of the punk style inspired pieces. The female model is seen wearing a white shirt with some eye-catching graphics such as a rose and the AHNY logo placed across. To add a more classy touch, she wears a long silk white skirt. The male model is seen modeling a dark colored shirt with a vivid graphic displayed on the front and some jewelry chains to enhance the look.

The collection is directed towards both men and women. There is a clothing piece for everyone to choose from. AHNY provides a variety of clothing pieces that suits everybody. The designed collection pieces vary from dresses, shorts,  sweaters, tops, pants, skirts, and more. The collection can be accessed via the AHNY official website. It can be located under the “shop” category. When shopping the collection, there are two different sections. There is “AHS2 – Black Label” and “AHS2 – RecWear” categories. Both of these categories are different among each other.

For “RecWear,” you can find more on what can be classified as everyday wear. While for “Black Label,” it contains more highly regarded and lavish like pieces. When combining the two categories together, the pieces can be valued between $135 and $650. When creating this collection, AHNY made only a limited amount of stock of the clothing pieces. Once their pieces sell out, they unfortunately don’t restock. The reasoning behind this is AHNY’s efforts to maintain their mission as a sustainable clothing brand.

The Abel Honor New York brand is also notable for their New York based roots. They hold their roots close to them by finding ways to incorporate this concept in their collections. They are huge on the downtown New York culture. Abel Honor is also inspired by “streetwear” style.

 

 

Throughout the collection, we see a play of bright colored plaid designs with dark color accents. The female model is wearing a long sleeveless plaid designed dress. There are flower bouquet designs throughout the dress. However, to keep that punk element going, there are extra pieces added. From combat boots, fishnet tights and a dark laced bra. You can call it punk but make it classy.

 

 

Wasserbach also plays around with clothing layering. This particular representation within the collection provides homage to punk style. When one looks back at punk fashion, layering was a key factor. Just like this look here, the male model is seen in a white sweatshirt with the AHNY logo. On the sweatshirt, there is dark colored elements such as the moon, angel with wings and a crown. As for the bottom layer of the look, it is completed with a dark solid color pants with the left knee exposed by a tear. Punk fashion may be considered by some to be outdated and out of style. However, Abel Honor New York made it clear that punk fashion is here to stay.
