Fashion Hong Kong Fall/Winter 2017 Runway Wed Feb 15, 2017
Three designers presented at the Fashion Hong Kong in NYC, early Wednesday morning during NYFW. These designers where: Cynthia & Xiao , Harrison Wong and Polly Ho.
The first collection was presented by Cynthia &
Xiao. From what I observed, it was clear the designer enjoys bold graphics with
an expertise in knitwear designs.
This collection circled around Chinese traditions and their deities. Sometimes, we just see nice clothing and never know the back story or what it means to the designer. If we
could just take a second to imagine clothing like Chinese myth; wouldn’t it be cool if clothes could protect people as well protect people from illness.
The second designer (Harrison Wong ), I have to admit by default I liked this collection; due to my intense background in menswear and men’s photography.
This collection is not made for the boring
and the safe gentlemen. Why should life be so simple? This collection is for
the urban boy and the cool kid, who is hitting the clubs as well as in and out of a car services. There was a lot of robe like looks in this collection.
The last collection, was breath taking and captivating. Like the first showing, Loom Loop told a love story through fabrics and it was fun to watch. There were a lot of milk cartons and
cows references in this collection ( How fun and and cool is that ?) . Again, I believe these three designers collection hit the mark. By putting their love for legend and heritage first.
