Off-White Launches Debut Beauty Collection

Titled “PAPERWORK”, Off-White has officially launched its debut beauty collection. Off-White has described it as a “blank canvas in a new realm” and a “creative platform of visionary elements that celebrates color across fragrance, makeup, and nails.”
The collection provides a toolkit for self-expression and taps into the senses of smell, sight, and touch. It includes the SOLUTION fragrances, IMPRINT face and body pigments, and COLOR MATTER nail polishes.
The fragrance bottles are utilitarian in design and described by Vogue as a disruption to “the more expected conceptions we have around makeup and fragrance.” The line was crafted by Virgil Abloh prior to his passing last fall and was made in collaboration with Alexis Dadier, Jerome Epinette, and Sinoie Lancesseur — all celebrated perfumers. The collection takes inspiration from ‘90s nostalgia, bougie classics, and natural earthy elements.
The fragrances are titled Solution 1, Solution 2, Solution 3, and Solution 4 — with names being intentionally withheld so as to not influence the user. Solution 1 is described as an everyday fragrance and blends notes of ho wood, san accord, and patchouli, contrasting Solution 2’s tangerine leaves and orange blossom that blends with vetiver and cedarwood for a contrasting duality. Solution 3 is a classic fragrance with a modern twist, using rose absolute in excess. Solution 4 blends eucalyptus, lavender, wood, and leather — marrying nature with city. The bottles are made in Italy — the tops designed to replicate the control knobs found on the vats in industrial fragrance facilities. Teased at the Paris Off-White fashion show in February, the IMPRINT face and body pigment crayons were teased on model’s faces, exploring Abloh’s idea of “tagging” the body. The crayons are waterproof and smudgeproof, self-sharpening, and are formulated with an emollient that enhances performance and longevity. The formula also contains a conditioning setting spray. They come in six colors — Signal, Jet, Drill, Zone, Maze, and Lucid. Or red, black, nbrown, lime, indigo, and glaque. They retail for $40.
COLOR MATTER, the nail polish collection, ranges in six different lacquers with different finishes. One of them, Decode, is a white that brings back the crackle nail polish — intended to resemble shattered concrete. It also includes Flashback, Digital, and Military — or fuschia, electric blue, and army green. The collection tops off with a multi-cololored glitter polish and a clear polish. They retail at $35.
