Walter The Producer Releases New Single + Video

It hasn’t even been a year since Walter The Producer released his debut project, No Substance Mixtape. But the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist continues to prove that he is bursting with creative vision, turning heads in the industry along the way. “What’s most impressive is the amount of personal playlists he’s landed on that were curated by obscure indie lovers across the world, regarding him as their best-kept secret,” asserts ONES TO WATCH. “Though it’s important to note, the emerging artist demands to not be gatekept.” Walter The Producer – whose real name is Reid – is bold and inventive, but notably meticulous. He doesn’t say much, generally allowing his music to speak for itself. He does, however, have something to say about his newest single, “NOW WE’RE GETTING THERE,” which officially drops on April 15 via Slumbo Labs. “I co-produced the song with this dope producer Andrew Wells,” shares Walter. “I met him at his house where he had all these analog instruments that I thought were super cool. He had a Yamaha synth that I started to play on. I laid a couple of things down and then I was going to move on. But Andrew had a vision for one of the patches. He grabbed a bass and started playing a riff. Then played drums. The song is about how surreal it is that I actually make music for real – me and my friends used to dream about it.” “NOW WE’RE GETTING THERE” is the second single from his forthcoming new multi-part project, Please Help Me I’m Scared. The song’s video follows Walter The Producer in a story of redemption as he trains to become the ultimate ping pong master and take vengeance against his rival as they go head-to-head in the underground ping pong championship game.

Born and raised on the south shore of Massachusetts, Walter The Producer started playing guitar and piano at the age of 10, and was making beats by the time he was 13. He produces, mixes, and masters all of his own music. His viral debut project, No Substance Mixtape dropped in July of 2023 and featured the buzzy single, “Since September.” Walter’s most recent singles, “PAMPLEMOUSSE,” “THEY TOOK THE NIGHT,” “MUST BE THE AIR,” and “SLOW DOWN” have all drawn critical acclaim.  Walter The Producer draws inspiration from artists like Tame Impala, Steve Lacy, and Childish Gambino. His eclectic blend of alt-indie and disco pop has already made a lasting mark on the musical landscape. With big plans for the future, Walter The Producer intends to continue growing as an artist while producing for others. “This is all I wanna do,” he says. Catch Walter The Producer’s live show at this year’s Lollapalooza.
