Vlad Holiday Says He’s “By Myself”
Returning with his first new music in nearly two years, Vlad Holiday today releases the noir-tinged confession “By Myself.” On its surface, the single reads as a breakup song, but a deeper listen reveals a schism with addiction to technology and algorithm validation. Holiday proudly places the blame on himself as he begins revealing his hand on what he has been working on since his last record — Stream.
“This song is about acknowledging and removing toxicity from your life,” says Holiday. “For me personally, it’s more specifically about throwing my phone against a wall. I’ve been writing a lot about trying to understand and navigate brain fog, doomscrolling, AI, tech addiction, and finding a sense of reality in these new and extremely confusing times we’re living in.”
Today also sees Holiday begin to tease his headline North American tour for early 2027. Cities for the tour have been revealed, but venues will be announced next week. The official pre-sale for the tour begins on October 7th at 10 am local time. General on-sale begins on October 9th at 10 am local time. In late 2024, the Romania-born, Nashville-based artist released his debut album My Favorite Drug. The LP dives into a lot of dark subject matter, but shows Holiday as a character very much so in the middle of his journey. He openly sings about low moments in his mental health, substance abuse, the thin line between sanity and insanity, and cyclical patterns of familial abuse, all to place an element of love into life’s heaviest topics.
Following the record release, Holiday went on to tour alongside frequent collaborators Cage The Elephant and Declan McKenna, perform at Austin City Limits, and headline his own shows across North America as well as the UK/EU. Holiday was a co-writer on Cage The Elephant’s album Neon Pill, including the title track that was nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance at the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The band also earned their 11th and 13th No. 1 songs on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay radio chart with “Neon Pill” and “Metaverse,” both Holiday co-writes.
