Trueno Drops Video For “90s”

Global Spanish-language hip-hop star TRUENO today releases the official video for “90s,” with Argentine superstar Maria Becerra. The video is now streaming on TRUENO’s YouTube channel.

Filmed on the campus of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza in Buenos Aires province, the video stands out for its 1990s aesthetic, evoking pop and hip-hop productions from that era.

Directed by Agustín Puente and Clemente Bruzzone and produced by The Movement, the video continues the visual language TRUENO introduced in “PUMAS”: a grainy black-and-white clip that plays with extreme close-ups and split screens — a nod to the visual storytelling of the nineties.

TRUENO and his Nike Shox TR1 sneakers open the video in extreme close-up. Wardrobe-wise, TRUENO wears a bucket hat, a decade-defining staple that shaped urban streetwear. Maria Becerra, for her part, wears a rhinestone-embellished cap and a paisley headband — also streetwear icons of ‘90s hip-hop culture.

90s” was produced by Tatool and ElGuincho. Built around a sample of “Orbitando” by Los Encargados — a band from the ‘90s in Argentina — the song captures the tension between desire and nostalgia through a pop/rock aesthetic with vintage textures achieved via synthesizers.

This is the fourth official video TRUENO has released from his fourth studio album, TURR4ZO, following “PUMAS,” “TURRAZO” and “X UNAS LLANTAS.”

Released April 24th, TURR4ZO has been hailed by  Rolling StoneBillboard and NPR  as one of the year’s best albums so far, praised for its concept, TRUENO’s lyrical maturity and production values that bridge generations and musical icons across Argentine culture.

Earlier this year, TRUENO opened for legendary British band Gorillaz on their UK tour, with whom he also collaborated on “The Manifesto” from their new album. Since then, he’s teamed up again with CypressHill on “Saca La Bolsita,” made his debut at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, and, during his time in Japan, TRUENO also unveiled his first collaboration with iconic British brand KANGOL, releasing a limited edition of the brand’s signature Bermuda Casual hat.

He also closed out the LAMC at New York’s SummerStage Central Park with an electric, at-capacity show. The concert was part of the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), the longest-running annual Latin music conference in the United States.

At LAMCTRUENO also took part in a Q&A panel alongside MiloJ, moderated by Billboard’s co-chief Content Officer LeilaCobo, where the two discussed their careers and how national pride and a sense of belonging shape their music.

He’s also landed a string of magazine covers, most recently Billboard’s special “The Up-And-Comers Issue” alongside US-based singers BellaKay and Slayyyter. Over the past four months, he’s also appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone Argentina, Billboard Argentina, GQ México, Galore, L’Officiel and Notion.

In September, TRUENO continues the “TURR4ZO World Tour,” heading to Latin America with confirmed dates in Ecuador. In October, the rapper continues his Latin American run through Peru and Chile before heading to Spain, with stops in BarcelonaTenerife and Madrid, then closes out the month back in Latin America with a show in Guatemala. In November, the tour continues through Costa RicaVenezuela, El Salvador and Mexico, wrapping up the year in Argentina.
