The Paradox Say “I Kinda Like That”
The Paradox, the history-making Atlanta four-piece fast becoming one of the most closely watched new bands in music, announced their new six-song EP, Proceed With Caution, arriving October 2. Breaking exclusively yesterday via Billboard, the announcement came alongside the release of new single “I Kinda Like That” and its official visualizer, offering the clearest glimpse yet at the bigger creative world the band is building.
With The Paradox’s recent NPR Tiny Desk performance for Black Music Month where they previewed new single “I Kinda Like That,” it now arrives in full, pairing the band’s raw immediacy with the towering hooks, emotional candor, and live-wire energy that have fueled their rapid ascent. The single was first teased last week and the video took over the internet, amassing over 3.3M views on TikTok with comments and re-posts from Tyla, Joe Jonas, Normani as well as 2M views on Instagram. The accompanying visualizer brings that energy to the screen as the band opens the door to what comes next. KROQ, the largest rock station in LA, will also be doing a radio premiere of the song later today.
| Despite its title, there is nothing tentative about Proceed With Caution. Across six songs, The Paradox sharpen the urgency, emotion, and outsized hooks that have powered their rise while pushing into a larger and more fully realized creative space. The EP captures a young band meeting the scale of the moment around them without sacrificing the rawness that first made people pay attention. The EP announcement arrives as The Paradox prepare to embark on their first-ever national headline tour, a coast-to-coast fall run kicking off October 14 in Dallas and wrapping November 18 with a hometown finale in Atlanta. The tour will bring their explosive live show to Houston, Austin, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, Denver, Detroit, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and more, with full routing below. Demand has already surged, with 15 dates, more than half of the entire tour, already sold out. The band’s initial New York and Los Angeles shows sold out quickly enough to prompt the addition of second nights in both markets, each of which are now sold out as well. The group’s acceleration has been extraordinary. Earlier this year, The Paradox became the first all-Black band to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart with the breakout hit “Get The Message.” Their single “Do Me Like That” also reached No. 47 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart and No. 4 on its Alternative Digital Song Sales chart. The band was recently selected for YouTube’s Foundry Class of 2026, YouTube Music’s global artist-development program for independent artists. Formed in Atlanta in the summer of 2024, The Paradox — Eric Dangerfield (vocals/guitar), Christopher “Xelan” Bernard (lead guitar/vocals), Donald Bryant (bass), and Percy “PC3” Crews (drums) — have quickly carved out a distinct place in modern rock. Their songs balance raw energy and emotional immediacy with the kind of hooks built to travel far beyond any single scene. Within weeks of posting their earliest content online, the band began amassing an audience that has since grown to more than 2.1 million followers across platforms. Their list of champions reflects the breadth of their appeal with Billie Joe Armstrong personally invited them to open for Green Day at a stadium show, Travis Barker joining them on “Bender,” and Joel Madden, Jack White, Kid Cudi, SZA, and LeBron James all publicly supporting the group. With Proceed With Caution, The Paradox are no longer simply introducing themselves. They are stepping fully into the promise that has surrounded them from the beginning and offering the clearest picture yet of the band they are becoming. |
