Temples and Alex Henry Foster Rock Racket NYC
Temples are marking their ten year anniversary of their album ‘Sun Structures‘ with a U.S. tour and bringing Alex Henry Foster along for the ride. On October 17, they brought their neo-psychedelia tunes to Chelsea.
Coming from Montreal Canada and the U.K., both bands were far from home but it didn’t feel like it. Racket NYC became home that night. Filled with vibrant guitar riffs, mesmeric vocals, and an open attitude.
Alex Henry Foster Kicks Off The Night
The music started at 8 p.m. with the sounds of Alex Henry Foster. His cinematic vocals and instrumentals echoed throughout the venue, backed by a full band amplifying the ethereal energy. Alex Henry Foster is from Montreal, Canada, and he is on his first U.S. tour. Henry Foster said about the tour,
“We are from Montreal, Canada. This is our first American tour. We’re so happy to be in such a beautiful country with beautiful people. My mom is here and it’s her very first time in New York.”
Each song was an experience. You became entranced in the stage and the vibrant sounds coming from it during Foster’s set. For 40 minutes there was a certain aura in the air. Which seemed like the intention of Alex Henry Foster’s performance.
“We only did four songs, but that’s what happens when each of them is 15 minutes!” Foster laughs.
Temples At Racket NYC
After Alex Henry Foster’s set concluded, even more people trickled into the small West Side venue. Some superfans, some just there for a good time, with good music.
“We were just looking for a cool show and we saw this and decided to come.” said NYC vistor Adriana Gallager.
At 9:15 the lights dimmed and then blue lights flashed on illuminating four shadows on the stage. Suddenly the guitar riff of the song ‘Sun Structures’ blasts throughout the room immediatly followed by crowd cheers. The band performed the entire Sun Structures album. An album that possesses the foundation of the iconic Temples sounds. For many fans, this album was their introduction to the band.
“Colours to life was the first song I listened to, and it’s still by far my favorite.” said superfan Dana
The fans enjoyed Temples set so much that the band came out for an encore and did two more songs. Popular tracks Paraphernalia, and Gamma Rays. It was clear they were missed in the city. After the hour and a half show, Ms. Gallagher who came in with not knowing the band at all said
“I came in unsure, and now I’m walking out a fan.”
