Slow Joy’s Esteban Flores On Greif, Touring and New Album

At the end of his “I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour“, Esteban Flores, otherwise known as Slow Joy, is excited and exhausted. And with his new self-titled album about to drop this Friday, there is more on the horizon

“I mean it’s it’s it’s an adventure for better or worse. Sometimes you’re stuck in rainstorms, and sometimes you’re in a beautiful city, walking around in a place you’ve never been born,” said Flores. ” So I’m really thankful that I get to meet really cool people every night. It is pure chaos.”

One of the leading singles is “Forget,” an emotionally charged yet cathartic emo-rock-inspired track that is a cathartic take on not wanting to feel the way you are feeling at the moment.

“I’m just a dude who plays music; I didn’t think that I would. I kind of, I guess, was on the precipice of Slow Joy. I had wanted to do music my entire life, and then I kind of gave up on it after my mom died, and then, after, you know, going to therapy, my therapist really suggested that I use music to process through some tough emotions.”

Flores has been touring since late 2025, with his previous stretch for “A Joy So Slow You Don’t Think It’s Coming,” which came out last year. Besides being on the road for a long time, he says there are a lot of ways it’s helped him process things like grief.

“it it’s interesting because something that I use to help my mental health threw me into a position where I’m on tour often, which is, if you know anything about touring, it’s it’s pretty much just like the worst place to keep your mental health, right? You’re not sleeping, you’re not eating, you’re constantly in motion. ”

But he says being on stage makes it all worth it.

His new album takes all that emotion as well. Though he doesn’t name favorites, he’s proud of what the album explores: its soft emo-rock inspiration. Tracks like “Again” as an opener, “Yearn for the Urn,” which floats into “Best of Me” through its stagnant mood that inevitably explodes.
