Today, Detroit rap star Skilla Baby returns with brand new single “So Bad” featuring fellow 2024 XXL Freshman Classmate 4Batz

The booming tribute to loyal ladies arrives as Skilla Baby celebrates his birthday with a pair of hometown shows creative-directed by artistic powerhouse Teyana Taylor. “So Bad” opens on echoing horns, big bass, and cracking drums — carving out a huge space that Skilla Baby fills with ease. He brags on his girl’s style and hustle, and makes clear that he rewards loyalty: “My bankroll blue, she get Tiffany too / She wanna go to Turks, I pay for the whole crew / I pay her rent, I ain’t a trick, that’s just what real ni**as do.” 4Batz picks up the thread: “My b**ch magazine-bad, like she been in Vogue / Celine up on her hip, Chanel up on her toe.” Production comes from YPM CarterHigherrside, and Dizzy Banko.

2024 continues to be a big year for Skilla Baby. In July, Skilla Baby expanded his breakout mixtape The Coldest with a Deluxe Edition (listen HERE) that added four new cuts including “Booby Trap on the River” featuring BossMan Dlow. The video for the latter continues a trend of Skilla Baby dropping one stunning visual after the next, including “Project X (G6),” “Misfit,” “Bulletproof,” and “Free Big Meech.” The Coldest crossed over 100 million streams just ahead of the deluxe release.

That same month, Skilla Baby scored the coveted fan-voted “People’s Champ” slot on XXL’s 2024 Freshman Class cover. He also wrapped the successful co-headlining “Vultures Eat The Most” Tour with Rob49, picked up a BET Hip Hop Awards nomination for “Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist,” and racked up press plugs from the likes of PeopleAssociated PressGaloreBillboardStereogumRolling Out (cover story), and more.

Fans and peers alike are fueling Skilla Baby’s rise. To date, he has amassed nearly 400 million streams across platforms. He has also notched major co-signs from the likes of Big SeanJack HarlowSouthsideCoi LerayCity GirlsRylo RodriguezLuh Tyler, and many others. “So Bad” will no doubt help add to that growing legacy.
