Silas Short Is Back With New Music And Video
Silas Short, a Milwaukee-born, Chicago-made, and L.A.-based artist has released “ILIKEU,” his first single since his debut EP Drawing. American independent record label Stones Throw released the EP back in 2021. After the release of Drawing, Silas moved from Chicago to Los Angeles to start working on brand-new music. The single “ILIKEU” is just one of the first songs he wrote and produced during this period on the West Coast. The track builds on the foundation of Drawing, with a lush sound and flirtatious energy. This single creates a vision for his future as he embarks on this next chapter. Some of Short’s previous songs include “ROOMS”, “Cloudy June”, “TwO”, and “Queen of Paisley,” which all hold a sense of groovy, laid-back vibrations. You will love Silas’ discography if your musical soul aligns with iconic artists like Erykah Badu or D’Angelo- the kind of music that feeds on poetry and profound rhythms. His newest release perfectly captures these vibes.
About The Music Video:
The music video, directed by Jackie Radinsky and Silas Short, pays homage to the famous 1983 Maxell commercial, The Matrix, and Gregg Araki’s film Nowhere. Silas utilizes various props throughout the video. He arranges dominoes, jams on his guitar, and talks to a love interest through a comically oversized, hand-made phone. The video features many close-up shots of the artist sitting in empty yet colorful settings. The song revolves around the idea of having a crush that just can’t seem to leave your head. Through heavy influences of R&B and Soul, “ILIKEU” makes people feel as if they are drowning in the groove. Fans of the upcoming singer should be getting ready for new music coming later this year!
