Raye Concert Album ‘Live At Montreux Jazz Festival’
Continuing what has already been a truly sensational year for her, global sensation RAYE today releases live concert album, Live At Montreux Jazz Festival, available to stream and purchase on 12” vinyl today via Human Re Sources/The Orchard.
RAYE recently delivered a standout performance at the 58th Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, a show that both the festival and RAYE herself found so monumental that she decided to commemorate it with a special digital and 12″ vinyl album release. The album cover features a touching image of RAYE with her Swiss grandfather who saw RAYE perform for the very first time making her Montreux debut even more special. Since 1967, the Festival has celebrated all genres of music and generated countless legendary performances. Artists who have graced the stage of Montreux include Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Prince, Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar, Leonard Cohen, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, and Nina Simone to name a few.
Speaking on the significance of the performance, BRIT Award winner RAYE says:
“Playing Montreux Jazz Festival was one of the greatest musical honours we have ever been granted. I am so enamoured and in awe of the history of all the artists who have stood on the stage we shared, a festival dedicated to celebrating and providing a platform for true musicianship. I am so proud of this day we got to stand on that stage. I left the stage feeling the highest of highs.
Also in this moment my mum’s father, Hans, my beautiful Swiss grandfather got to see me sing for the first time. This was the most beautiful day in my memories for myself and my band. A day we will never forget and we wanted to share this moment with a beautiful vinyl for anyone who would care to listen.”
The album features RAYE’s stellar and rousing cover of the James Brown classic “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” accompanied by a live performance video available to watch via RAYE’s official YouTube – WATCH HERE. Montreux Jazz’s YouTube will also showcase the tracks “Genesis” and “Mary Jane” (coming September 16th) with RAYE’s full set to be released via her YouTube on October 1st.
In March, RAYE made history at Britain’s biggest night in music when she clinched an unprecedented six BRIT Awards – the most wins for any artist in a single year and the first female to ever win Songwriter of the Year – marking a groundbreaking achievement that propelled the indie artist to superstardom. She has since dazzled audiences live at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and on Saturday Night Live, skyrocketing My 21st Century Blues into the US iTunes Top 10. This year has also seen RAYE open for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, contribute to Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER album (“RIIVERDANCE”), be named to TIME Magazine’s “Next Generation Leaders” list, earn nominations at the 2024 BET and MTV Video Music Awards, as well as be honored at the upcoming SONA Warrior Awards.
