Oxlade shares ‘Katgori/Piano’ EP + More

Continuing to build on the massive success of his hit “KU LO SA” (over 462 global streams!) and his recent slick Top 50-UK charting “Intoxycated” collaboration with UK rap star Dave, the rising “Prince of Afropop” Oxlade is back with a new 2-track EP, KATIGORI/PIANO! I’m loving the sound of these two new tracks, they really elevate the artistry of the recent 2023 Billboard Music Awards finalist. “KATIGORI” is a sweeping Afropop saga and a lush showcase for Oxlade’s honeyed vocals, proving that he is far beyond his imitators – they’re not even close to being in the same category. “PIANO” mixes the Lagos Afrobeats sound with the signature log drum of Amapiano as Oxlade layers his vocal harmonies and rhythmic flows over the dynamic percussion. “KATIGORI” and “PIANO” are the latest releases from Oxlade From Africa, Oxlade’s debut album arriving early 2024.

“‘KATIGORI’ is a three-year-old record, it was created in a space where I had fame but not success. It was me manifesting where I am now and prophesying my future because I feel like there’s a moment in my music career where everybody will accept that I’m the GOAT. On the other hand, ‘PIANO’ is a result of all my fast-paced records that didn’t get the blessings they deserved. Now that I have the audience and numbers, I want to show everyone the fast, club side of Oxlade. ‘PIANO’ is the strongest song I’ve dropped this year MUSICALLY. I want everyone to have 2 sides of the coin, the cautious Oxlade and the party Oxlade. ‘PIANO’ is a love song, ‘KATIGORI’ is a statement piece, letting them know that we’re not mates.” – Oxlade

Today, Oxlade also shares the stunning “KATIGORI” music video. Filmed on the shores of Nigeria, the video pays tribute to the Lagos native’s cultural roots. Adorned in all white, he dances on the beaches of his home country and heads to a local village to watch a fire dance with the stylish locals. The EP and video continue Oxlade’s successful year, including his four nominations at the 2023 Headie Awards, consisting of Best Song Of The Year, Best Recording Of The Year, and more. This summer, he also raised his profile with incredible live performances, including a performance with Usher at the Global Citizen Festival in Ghana, and a performance alongside Wizkid at the Accor Arena in France!
