Okay Coleman! Says To “Let Me Go,”
Today, Altadena’s own okay coleman! releases his latest single “Let Me Go,” via Art Club, the label behind landmark releases from Jhené Aiko and Anderson .Paak’s Malibu. The track continues the rollout for his forthcoming EP, 001.
“Let Me Go” builds on the momentum of “Did U Even Notice,” Coleman’s April release, also featured on 001, which earned a spot in The FADER’s ‘Songs You Need In Your Life This Week.’ The recognition adds to the early attention surrounding okay coleman! as he continues carving out his place as an emerging artist to watch.
Produced by Angelo LeRoi, Micha Cooper, and okay coleman! himself, “Let Me Go” explores the emotional gray area of a connection that keeps pulling him back in, balancing late-night desire with the self-awareness that the pattern may be costing him his peace. Serving as the eighth track on 001, the song exists within the project’s elevator-inspired concept, where each track represents a different floor. Its closing transition to the ninth floor reinforces the larger world Coleman is building across the EP, using the project’s structure to move listeners through different emotional levels of love, attachment, and release.
“I wanted to lean into that soulful R&B pocket that fans gravitate toward, like ‘Agave.’ As soon as we recorded it, it just felt right. I knew it needed to be on the project.” shares okay coleman!.
okay coleman! is a highly explorative artist, producer, songwriter, and DJ from Pasadena/Altadena, CA — a true alchemist of sound who blurs the lines of genre. His debut EP, Am I In Control?, dubbed ‘Rap&B’ weaves rhythmic, melodic flows and skillful introspective writing over self-produced, hard-hitting, soulful beats. With a growing global fanbase, he’s already made waves alongside R&B and hip-hop icons.
His upcoming EP, 001, marks the first full length release of his career. Coleman traverses through Soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop with ease over the 11-track project, produced with childhood friend Angelo LeRoi. A thematic masterwork, 001 is a world built around an elevator cab that tells true stories of love, spirituality, and loss in a relatable but fresh way.
