The 13-track ‘Keep Me Company’ album release date was November 29. A few weeks after dropping a track with Method Man, Skyzoo wanted fans to have more. And gave them the gift of ‘Courtesy Call’ with a feature from the founder of Public Enemy, Chuck D. Skyzoo collaborates with these beloved classic rap sensations with the attention and production quality they deserve. But for ‘Courtesy Call’ the beat came first and everything else built off it. The single has a free-flowing energy from Skyzoo where he flexes the rawness of his rapping talents. In the hook is where Chuck D’s vivacious voice takes off.

Skyzoo explains behind the single and said,

The track, produced by The Dagger, out of Michigan, is bare-boned and layered all at once; between the subs and the 808’s going neck and neck with the breakbeat drums.  It’s sort of a double entendre in its own right, and the intensity of it led me to write a sparring session over it.  As someone known for double-meanings, but also storytelling, it had been a while since I used that multi-layered part of my arsenal to just “rap”; so this was an opportunity to just rhyme relentlessly.  The beauty of the record is every single line is at least a double entendre if not a triple. “For the hook, I had this idea of a grand and boisterous voice to being the “warning” home; and there’s none better than the legendary Chuck D.  Over the years, Chuck has been a huge supporter of mine, so we were overdue for a collab—and I am honored to have him on the record with me.”

Production is an important part of Skyzoo’s music, and you can tell with the influences in this new album. Though there are 13 tracks, nine different producers work on the album. Some of these names include DJ Manipulator, ANKN & VDR, and JR Swiftz. Skyzoo is handling his music with care. From his lyrics, to the beats, to the production, it’s obvious. And ‘Keep Me Company’ is an album that showcases all these strengths just in time to close out the year. Think of it as a Christmas gift from Skyzoo.
