New Hope Club Drops New Single ‘Swimming With Sharks’

Teasing at their live shows, New Hope Club finally releases their new single, ‘Swimming with Sharks. A groovy, catchy tune about what being engrossed in toxic love can feel like.

Following an album release, and in the middle of a U.S. tour, comes this new infectious pop jam. The three New Hope Club boys sing about navigating a chaotic dating world. Going from one relationship to the next, in a blind frenzy, which develops into a toxic cycle. With the chorus saying,

“Tell me why is love like

Swimming with, swimming with, swimming with sharks”

And the bridge,

“Dangerous, gotta lock me up
Dangerous, but I want your love”

While comparing a volatile relationship to the experience of swimming with sharks, the group showcases their dynamic vocals on the track. Each of their voices blending seamlessly into one another’s. Harmony is an important part of what makes the New Hope Club sound compelling to so many. Both their vocal harmony and instrumental harmony. Their connection with each other is shown through these harmonies and the cleanness of the production in their music.

‘Swimming With Sharks’ is a great example of New Hope Club’s ability to create something original, yet familiar. The single’s catchy chorus is reminiscent of pop hits on the radio, but they have a uniquely funky bassline. Thanks, Reece Bibbly! This is not the first time the boys have written about love so vibrantly, and it won’t be the last. Talking about the new single, the band says, “Dating can become a toxic cycle and that’s what we tried to capture in different themes within the song. Because the song is predominantly pop/funk, inspired by a chance encounter with Nile Rodgers, we love playing this one live. We cannot wait to showcase this new track on tour… we just hope there are no sharks in the audience.”
