Myd Releases ‘Song For You’ & ‘The Wizard’
Myd has returned with two brand new songs – ‘Song For You’ and ‘The Wizard’ – which are both out now via Ed Banger Records / Because Music.
The two new singles signal a nuanced evolution in sound and approach for the French artist, taking in influences from his time spent DJing at venues and parties across the globe these past three years.
‘Song For You’ is a sun kissed, joyous house track which features a funky, filtered bass line, nifty sampling prowess and a dreamy vocal courtesy of Myd himself. ‘The Wizard’ is altogether darker, and the biggest evolution in Myd’s sound to date. A looping vocal sample gives way to relentless synth bass which drives throughout the track as rhythmic synth stabs and percussive loops enter and exit – resulting in a confounding, hypnotic and blissfully psychedelic club journey.
Of the two new singles and his recent live streamed studio lock-in, Myd says:
“I’m stepping into a new chapter of my music, one that channels the energy of the club into something more intimate and universal. This next phase is faster, sharper, and unapologetically focused on the dancefloor. After years of performing live and DJing in clubs, that pulse has naturally found its way into my studio, shaping music that feels vibrant and alive.”
Always willing to try new experiments in pursuit of his art, Myd recently locked himself in his recording studio for a week – with no access to the outside world, no phone or social media. He live streamed the entire week with no breaks; eating, sleeping, working and playing in constant view of the viewers (up to 10,000 watched together on Friday) across the world via Twitch. He was joined by guests – friends, fellow DJs and artists including Pedro Winter/Busy P, LB aka LABAT, Jersey, Warmer People and more.
Myd is an internationally acclaimed artist, DJ and producer from France. Signed to prestigious record label Ed Banger Records by Pedro Winter in 2017, he quickly gained notoriety for his records, collaborations and remixes, before unleashing his breakthrough debut album ‘Born A Loser’ in 2021. An acclaimed combination of indie and electronic music, it featured breakthrough hits such as ‘The Sun’, ‘Moving Men’ with Mac DeMarco and further collaborations with Bakar, Juan Wauters and JAWNY. His collaborations continued with recent releases with Palms Trax and remixes for Shakedown ft Bootsy Collins & Polo & Pan along the way.
Live, Myd has played in venues across the globe from Paris, London, New York to LA – with a full live band before immersing himself as a DJ at “the world’s No1 club” Hi Ibiza, Pikes Ibiza, Printworks London and festivals such as Primavera, All Points East, Rock En Seine and more. And at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France, Myd was the sole DJ for the historic event – which was broadcast live to over 22 million people – playing a mix of songs including his own hits and tracks from other artists – all while dressed in a custom French flag dress designed by Louis Gabriel Nouchi.
