MJ NEBREDA DROPS HER MIXTAPE

Miami based artist, producer, DJ, and culture disruptor MJ Nebreda has officially released her new mixtape, Arepa Mixtapevia EMPIREMJ gave listeners an early taste of the project earlier this week after releasing the music video for title track “Arepa” featuring neoperreo pioneer Ms. Nina and fellow Miami-based production duo INVT. The 10- song L.P. further expands on MJ’s signature eclectic take on neoperreo in which she meshes South American rhythms, futuristic sounding melodic elements, and Spanish vocals to create high paced Latin club tracks. Influenced by reggaeton, raptor house, and dembow, her music production mastery is on full display throughout the mixtape as she weaves in and out of rhythmic pockets while alternating between singing and rapping her verses in Spanish. Her stylistic choice in sounds paint a sonic atmosphere that resembles a night out by a tropical coastline. Tracks such as “Muy Fina” featuring Gini Santana bring an unapologetically rambunctious vibe to the listening experience with the song’s in-your-face reggaeton style drums and bassline being enough to rattle any sound system while tracks such as “Calor” featuring Nick León create moments of tranquility with it’s ethereal like synth chords creating the perfect backdrop for MJ’s melodic vocals. MJ teased the project earlier this year after releasing music videos for her singles “Rapido” featuring Ana Macho and “Subliminal” featuring Sammy.

The Venezuelan tastemaker showed her influence on the fashion world after being invited to play a LUAR x EMCEEE Studios party in NYC before heading out for a stint of shows in Ibiza earlier this year. She demonstrated her ability to appeal to both the mainstream and the underground after playing NYC’s underground club Paragone upon her return in which she had the crowded dance floor wrapped around her fingers. MJ continued her hot streak of shows a few weeks later after playing Isla Del Terror in San Juan, Puerto Rico and fully captivating the dancefloor. She’s currently continuing to push the sound of neoperreo across the world as she’s currently on tour playing shows in Portugal, Spain, and France, along with providing support for singer/songwriter Amber Lucid across various U.S. tour dates and will be playing a Boiler Room in Miami at the end of the month before performing at Three Points Music Festival in October. MJ Nebreda will also be headlining LA’s El Cid on November 16th.
