What made Lah Pat use Pony as a sample?

A friend challenged me to remix the song. He constantly challenged me to remix songs. I didn’t get a chance to finish it. And I was humming the chorus, like on a live. I had and somebody had written, you need to make that a song. That’s going to be fire. I was like, so they like the sex type thing.

How did Lah Pat develop his sound being from Louisiana & Houston?

Just loving artists from those two areas. Growing up, in New Orleans culture. Like, from reggae to bounce music and second-line music to jazz. Like, I was in a band, I was in the choir. So, I already got a mixture of different kinds of genres already mixed in me. So when I got to Houston, they had the chopped and screwed. Now, my honest opinion is everything’s sexy in chop and screw. So I call my music gumbo pop. I like to mix a bunch of different sounds in one and call it mine.

What is Lah Pat’s point of view or his thoughts on R&B right now?

A lot of people have been saying, well, it’s coming back, it’s on its way back. I agree. I 100 percent agree. So when I first got in the game, I stayed in the rap/hip-hop lane. I wasn’t trying to put out a lot of R&B you didn’t see a lot of new artists popping up. But you have seen a lot of rap stars popping up. Now that I tap back into the R&B lane, I’ve met a lot of dope R&B artists. Like super dope underground. And I know me being where I’m at and the grind I’m on, they’re next. Like I know a few of them that’s coming right behind me. If people are really starting to pay attention to songs, we’re on that frequency of love now. Yes. And I want to propagate it so loudly.

What about Lah Pat’s new single coming out?

It’s more new-age swing dance music. I kind of cater to the ladies big time. So I  cater to the ladies to enhance it for the males. It is more dance-like. It’s called “Kama Kazi.” It is basically a song about loving the way she dances. I want to kind of make them feel comfortable partying and having a good time again.

What sound does Lah Pat want to explore or experiment with?

Like reggaeton kind of music. I actually tried it and came out with a good track, but I know like, the way the game is, transitioning too early can be trouble. I want to get established as an artist before I show my versatility.

What advice would Lah Pat give his fans going through a tough time?

I would love to give them in that time “God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.” So it might seem so tough, but believe me, he knows you can overcome it. Also, what I want them to leave with about my character is that I’m humble.
