Kiesza Returns With Iconic New Single “I Go Dance”

In a tunefully triumphant return to dancefloor glory, Kiesza is back with ‘I Go Dance,’ the irresistible new single from her hotly anticipated upcoming album slated for May. With a billion-streaming single ‘Hideaway,”, multiple Juno Award wins, and world-beating collaborations with Diplo, Skrillex, deadmau5, Duran Duran, and Francis Mercier, Kiesza has proven herself to be one of the most unique and zeitgeist-defining artists of today. See her perform “I Go Dance” for the first time at the Electronic Dance Music Awards (EDMAs) at the Eden Roc Miami Resort on Friday, March 22.In Kiesza’s words, “”I Go Dance” was a song where the lyrics just rolled off my tongue in a matter of seconds. With about 50% of the lyrics already in place, (Canadian producer) Sugar Jesus had already begun the beat for it in advance, and the second I heard it, I jumped up and started dancing! It’s one of those songs that felt very channeled. It came pre-written from the ether, and it was up to me to fill in the blanks. One day, while working on another song together, I played it for (Grammy-nominated songwriter) K Sotomayor, and we began talking in depth about how everything in life, be it light or dark, is in some way connected to self-healing. With that intention in mind, we wrote the verse together and we’re able to fill in all the blanks effortlessly. It’s one of those tunes that is a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. As simple as it is, there’s more depth than one might think upon their first listen.”Kiesza’s latest music effortlessly navigates the cross of dance, house, and electro-pop with the folk influences that have long shaped her songwriting. This fusion of genres reflects her artistic evolution since her award-winning debut single,  “Hideaway,” and its memorable one-shot video that launched her career. With its release in 2014, “Hideaway” highlighted Kiesza’s abilities as a songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and accomplished dancer, originating from her hometown of Calgary, AB. The track received extensive radio and video play and Top 20 chart placements across North America and Europe, three JUNO Awards, Gold, Platinum, and Double Platinum status in the US, UK, and Canada, respectively, and launched her debut album Sound of a Woman.Following the success of her debut album, Kiesza faced her life’s “hardest work” – recovering from a traumatic brain injury sustained during a car accident in 2017. During her recovery, which remains ongoing, Kiesza could only hope her journey led her to the future she’d been striving for. That experience influenced her forthcoming work and her sophomore album, Crave (2020), which drew critical acclaim. Her sophomore album, Crave (2020), drew critical acclaim, followed by a collaboration with deadmau5 that surpassed over 12 million streams. In her new music, Kiesza embraces the extremes of her experiences and musical journey, bringing her exceptional talents to the forefront. As 2024 unfolds, it marks the next chapter in Kiesza’s journey, with fresh music, performances, and other creative endeavors on the horizon.
