Kai Cenat Becomes The Paradox’s Unofficial 5th Member
The Paradox had a pretty major moment with Kai Cenat over the weekend.
Friday night, they joined Kai Cenat during his 24-hour livestream, turning a packed room at the AMP house into an impromptu rock show. The band performed their viral single “I Kinda Like That”, before Kai, fully embracing his emo-rockstar alter ego Kyle, grabbed the mic and joined them for a performance himself.
And he didn’t leave empty-handed: The Paradox surprised Kai with his own custom guitar, prompting him to jokingly declare that he’s officially joining the group. So, for the time being at least, Kai Cenat is The Paradox’s unofficial fifth member.
It’s a pretty incredible co-sign for a band whose reach is rapidly extending far beyond traditional rock spaces. The Paradox are four young Black musicians from Atlanta who formed just two years ago and have already built an audience of more than 3.3 million followers across platforms, while becoming the first all-Black band to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart with “Get The Message.”
They’ve been championed by everyone from Billie Joe Armstrong and Travis Barker to Jack White, SZA, Kid Cudi and LeBron James, and moments like this show just how strongly the band is connecting with a massive young audience. Their first-ever national headline tour this fall is completely sold out, all 21 dates, including two nights each in NYC and LA.
The Paradox will release their new six-song EP, Proceed With Caution, on October 2.
