Justin Bieber’s “Low-Key” Performance Divides Fans
Justin Bieber returns to the stage with a headlining performance for Coachella 2026. However, his show is leaving some on social media to criticize the pop star, while others find it touching.
Compared to other performances that came before his, the Canadian singer’s set was more laid back with minimal stage design. A few backup dancers, as well as him performing his viral classics such as Baby and Never Say Never, in the middle of his performance via his laptop.
While some would watch and leave it at that, many on social media are beginning to debate the singer’s authenticity due to the direction of his festival performance.
On Twitter/X a user shared their disdain for the performance by stating, “If Sabrina Carpenter did what Justin Bieber is doing right now, her career would be over”.
While another, more supportive, user stated that he didn’t “force a high-production machine that could burn him out again” and instead reflected on his past by mixing nostalgia with a new chapter in his life.
Back in September it was reported that Bieber had broken a Coachella record when it was announced he would be headlining for $10 million, making him the highest-paid artist in the festival’s history. With a paycheck like that, many had believed that Bieber would put on a stellar show in support of his two recent LPs SWAG & SWAG II.
While this performance will set a week of entertaining discourse on social media for all to see, it is sure to leave a lasting impression on how audiences both at home and at the festival determine what makes a performance at Coachella the performance of a lifetime.
