Jorge Cuéllar Releases “Amor Fati”
Rising Mexican star Jorge Cuellar releases “Amor Fati,” a song that invites listeners to move through love’s limbo to the beat of cumbia. The track is out now on all platforms via Cabanna Records.
Co-written by Cuellar with Dante Urbina and Vladimir Soto, who also produced the track alongside Lorena Cabral and SAI, the song tackles heartbreak with lyrics that cut a dagger: “no te costaba nada hablar con la verdad / tú bien sabías que esto iba a terminar / si tu amor tiene fecha de caducidad / ¿por qué no me avisaste?” which translates into English as: “It wouldn’t have cost you anything to tell the truth / you knew well this was going to end / if your love has an expiration date / why didn’t you warn me?”
Throughout the single, Cuellar gives voice to an emotional tug-of-war: accepting the inevitable end, aching for a shared history that left its mark, longing to “restart” it all and pretend, for one last night, that the love is still there, and knowing, deep down, that a brighter future awaits that person, not exactly in your arms.
Musically, Cuellar crafted a modern fusion of cumbia and alternative pop, anchored by the faithful accordion that has been with him since the beginning and serves as the song’s emotional through line. The upbeat sound contrasts with the lyrics’ depth, inviting listeners to dance through the highs and lows.
“AMOR FATI” is the third single from his highly anticipated upcoming album, his first studio release. As Cuellar shared this week during a TikTok Live from Spain, “IMU” and “YUANFEN” were the first two previews of the project, marking the start of a more mature, experimental chapter and pushing the boundaries of his sound.
One of them, “YUANFEN,” has already passed 6.1 million streams on Spotify and quickly climbed Mexico’s TikTok viral music chart, peaking at No. 5. Also, the song’s official audio has been used in 2 million videos on the platform.
Jorge Cuellar is one of the most promising young voices in today’s regional Mexican music scene. At just 20, the Guadalajara native has built a loyal fanbase that has propelled him past 4 million monthly listeners and over 100 million streams on Spotify. On YouTube, Cuellar has also topped 100 million views, numbers that speak to his knack for crafting catchy melodies that tap into deep emotions.
His charisma and laid-back style have also helped him amass more than 4.2 million followers on TikTok and reach 1 million on Instagram.
