Jerry Folk X FENGSEL Releases ‘Better Days’

Together with his secondary alias, FENGSEL, electronic producer Jerry Folk released his new single and video, ‘Better Days’, on the 23rd of June via Folkestad Recordings. The single was premiered by Metal Magazine and follows his 2022 EP Castle Tapes, which, like his debut album Dotted Red, was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy Award. The Norwegian producer has previously garnered support from Complex,  Mixmag,  Clash Magazine, Magnetic Magazine, Your EDM, Ones To Watch, This Song Is Sick, Dancing Astronaut, Run The Trap, Acid Stag, KALTBLUT Magazine, and Highsnobiety. His music has aired on NPR and BBC Radio 1xtra and Radio 1 radio with Yasmin EvansJamz SupernovaNick Grimshaw, and Diplo And Friends.

Born and based in Oslo, Jerry Folk has always been a traveller at heart. Each of his songs is unique in its own right, a natural result of the producer refusing to stick to a single genre. Drawing on the likes of James Blake, Sevdaliza, Sbtrkt, Kaytranada and Flume as the inspiration for his diverse multi-genre discography, he pushes himself to new limits. In the past, he remixed Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth and Oh Wonder, produced for artists like Alina Baraz, Axwell Ingrosso and Lemaitre to name a handful, and earned over 350 million streams across platforms.

‘Better Days’ established the nostalgic mood that pervades the video throughout. We watch as a boy develops into a teenager and then a man. As the video progresses, we see his interests change, from playing to drawing to listening to music. Watching it brings back old feelings, a sense of longing for the days we once had, the so-called better days of youth.

Jerry Folk opens up: “I made this track in LA last year around the same time I made my last EP, Castle Tapes, and was inspired by medieval sounds, UK Punk, and ‘90s breakbeat music – trying to find a unique middle ground between the three. It’s coming out as a collab between Jerry Folk and my FENGSEL alias. It’s hard to explain but when some things I make get a certain nerve, I want to have it in the FENGSEL universe.”
