The Talk With LUH CEO

Q: How have the sounds of Mississippi impacted your flow?

CEO: Mississippi is like slow so it gave me the groundwork and things like music-wise, like being able to say certain things, like lifestyle-wise. And I was brought up around Dallas also, so for Dallas, it gave me more so like a lifestyle type of thing. Being able to see different things, understanding different things. You know, being around cars, vehicles, all types of stuff like this. Dallas gave me that lifestyle mindset and Mississippi more so just being able to say certain things and how certain people feel from a certain background like that.

Q: So the combination of the two has culminated in your style?

CEO: Yeah, definitely.

Q: What were your biggest influences in this record?

CEO: Tryna make it. It’s time to take that next step. And the record shows the battle between the lifestyle and all this type of stuff. It’s perfect for something like that. For a goal like that.

“I’m still confident about it.”

Q: How did you feel before you released this self-titled album, and how do you feel now that it’s been out?

CEO: Before, I was confident about it before. I wasn’t really worried about it before. I just wanted to make sure we put it out right, advertise it right, all that stuff. And now that it’s out it’s doing how it’s doing I still feel the same way. I’m still confident about it. It’s still good, everything good. So, I feel great about it. I felt great before and I feel excellent now.

Q: How does this album encapsulate who you are as an artist?

CEO: It has all types of dimensions. I’m more articulate. It gives me more dimension as an artist. Not just as a rapper, but as an artist incorporating different things different topics, different genders, and stuff like that. All that type of stuff gives you the balance of everything.

Q: Are you excited to perform this new album and why?

CEO: Just give live turnt songs. You know it be getting boring performing the same old songs if you ain’t dropping nothing new. It be boring because you want people to hear like the new stuff. So now I got some new music to give people for them to listen to that I like and everybody likes. It’s gonna be fun.

“I’m the type of person that if you do anything it’s gotta be great.”

Q: Why is this album so important to you?

CEO: Because it’s my work. And if you do anything, I’m the type of person that if you do anything it’s gotta be great. I don’t just want to put out anything or do anything because I care about what I’m doing. I actually got a passion for what I’m doing. So, it’s important because it’s mine, but it’s important because I understand my situation and I’m in an opportunity I got. So I want everything to be great and the best it can be. That’s why it’s important to me.

Q:How does this full-length album differ from your first mixtape?

CEO: Well the mixtape was trying to get out all the aggressive stuff, all that old CEO. To the album being, I don’t want to say the new CEO, but just expressing yourself more. Trying to reach new fan bases, and audiences and more than just your same crowd.

Q: So this like your evolution?

CEO: Yeah

Q: Going on tour with a veteran hip-hop artist like Soulja Boy, what did you learn from him?

CEO: That all you need is a hit song and you can make it last your whole career. You can tour like 20, 10 years, I think Soulja Boy touring about 20 years, 30 years, or something. And he ain’t just got one song, he got like five, six, seven that everybody knows. So, all you need is one, and you can make it last your whole career.

Q: Finally, what life do you hope to further feed this debut record? How do you plan to build off this?

CEO: I plan to be a top artist off of everything, off everything I debut from the single to the album. I plan on building off this stepping stone in my career. And put my foot in the game with what I made because I feel like it belongs with all the other type of art.

Q: Thank you so much for talking with me today!
