Hazel English Releases New Single “Hamilton”
Australian-born, California-based dream-pop star Hazel English released her new single “Hamilton” on August 3. The single closely follows the June release of her “Summer Nights” EP.
“Hamilton” finds English recounting a dream encounter with the song’s title character in spoken word, taking listeners through the journey amid the dream-like track behind it. It’s a fun track that differs ever-so-slightly from the soft indie ballads of her prior releases. English first broke into the scene with her double EP “Just Give In/Never Going Home” in 2017. Produced and cowritten by Jackson Phillips of Day Wave (whom English happened to meet by chance in a bookstore), the EP managed to embody the emotions behind English’s move to Oakland while planting her feet firmly among an ever-present wave of indie-pop newcomers.
Following a brief series of US performances, English will open for pop duo Aly and AJ on the European leg of their current tour.
