About “The Neighborhood”
“The Neighborhood” is a song Enger wrote after accidentally turning down the street where a boy she used to talk to lived. Despite being over him Enger says, “It made me think about how there are certain, places, things, smells, even weather conditions that will always remind me of this person no matter how long it’s been.” The 20-year-old singer-songwriter went on to write “The Neighborhood” later that week. The track was mixed by Yianni Anastos-Prastacos and mastered by Théo Quayle. During the chorus of the song Enger sings,
“So I find a new favorite corner store/’Cause the one by mine still feels like yours/The restaurants are haunted/The streets, a broken promise/And I think I’ll break if I have to stay/So I’ll move and give all your things away/But I’ll keep loving you more than I should/And you’ll keep the neighborhood.”
The song also includes a very strong bridge where Enger belts out. Listen to Grace Enger’s debut single “The Neighborhood” below!
