Dottie Andersson Releases ‘Wash My Hair’
On July 8th, up and coming artist Dottie Andersson released her newest single ‘Wash My hair’. Notably, its release has followed successful stand alone singles like ‘Marlow first’, ‘Babycake’, and ‘I love being sad.’ Throughout her work, Andersson centers her sound around sharp melodies, live instrumentation and lyrics that aren’t meant to fool anyone. She says what she means and means what she says. In fact, you can clearly see this laced within her releases. And now, as momentum continues to build, fans have something to scream about. Her debut album “Andersson Funeral Home” is set to release on September 4th!
The 13 track album features all five of her 2026 singles released to date. The album comes out in 38 days time and Andersson could not be more excited. Immediately, upon first listen, you can tell Andersson’s sound is quite unique. Caught somewhere between garage punk rock and Gen Z Olivia Rodrigo inspired pop, Andersson’s vibe innately transcends genres.
Moreover, the inspiration behind each song is eerily creepy, almost bone chilling. However, she frames it in a way that intrigues the listener, not freaks them out. Ultimately, her music is shaped by real experiences and real emotions. Because of this, it’s deeply meaningful to her and that’s what makes it special.
The Inspiration Behind ‘Wash My Hair’
Born in Småland, Sweden, she fell in love with music at a young ate. After growing up in a musical family and studying drums at university, a musical career was simply a formality. Now she’s got five singles and an upcoming album to accompany her 2025 EP ‘Nordic Machine’. But ‘Wash My hair’ is specifically special to Andersson.
Along with fellow songwriter Ben Jackson Cook, Andersson toyed with the inspiration for this song for a while. She took to her instagram to describe these feelings,
“I started out the morning in the studio telling @benjacksoncook about the fact that my partners have always loved washing my hair. We discussed the subject but couldn’t come to a conclusion – so we wrote a song about it. Thank you Ben for always letting me think and talk freely about whatever! We recorded the video on the streets of my Swedish hometown driving in my absolute favorite hearse. Thank you to my wonderful team for realizing my creepy ideas so wonderfully with me.”
