Dear Derrick “VEN AQUI” Music Video
New York based rapper, actor, and director Dear Derrick has officially released the music video for his latest single, “Ven Aqui,” featuring fellow NYC artist Dario.
The love-infused rap track comes as the first release from the soundtrack of Derrick’s feature film debut, The Black Sea, which will be out in theaters across the U.S. via Metrograph Pictures on November 22nd and was co-directed by Derrick alongside Crystal Moselle (The Wolfpack, Skate Kitchen, Betty). “Ven Aqui’s” bright kalimba melody and reggaeton style bass drum lay the foundation for Derrick’s laidback delivery as he recounts a budding romance with a summertime fling. Dario provides a deeper melodic element as he joins in on the chorus with soulful and flirtatious Spanish lyrics, dueting with Derrick to create a seamless party anthem for a night out.
Directed by Dear Derrick and featuring a memorable cameo from esteemed New York Rapper Hell Rell, the “Ven Aqui” music video captures the swagger of a New York summer. The visuals show Derrick playfully interacting with a female companion until another woman arrives, ready to compete for the Brooklyn emcee’s attention. Derrick smoothly de-escalates the situation, turning it into a lighthearted moment as the trio enjoys carnival rides and bumper cars at Coney Island’s Luna Park.
