DaeMoney Shares Tracklist ‘The Godson’ & Video “VICE CITY”
Blazing Detroit rapper DaeMoney shows his love for his craft and his consistency is evident in everything he does. Today, he shares the tracklist for his upcoming mixtape, The Godson, his second project of the year. Out this Friday, 11/1, The Godson reflects a pointed collection of street lessons topped with clever punchlines and pop culture references demonstrative of his artistic versatility and quick-witted lyrical prowess. Across the 15-track project, DaeMoney layers his signature mix of hard-hitting Michigan drums and opulent synths and infuses each track with an experimental array of sonics ranging from laid-back 90’s Californian rap throwbacks, dark and distorted keys, and sentimental acoustics. The new tape is home to recent singles “SNOTBALL,” featuring BabyTron, “F*CK SLAE” and “King of the Hill.” With additional features from GRS Rally, The Godson releases on November 1st via EMPIRE.
Along with the announcement, the Motor City riser shares the video for “[http://]VICE CITY,” where we find Dae delivering slick Detroit bars that collide with the pulse of a smooth Miami nights beat, bringing a groovy early 90s vibe to life. Dripping with confidence, his lyrics capture a victorious message of finally arriving in the spotlight, blending nostalgic sounds with a fresh, triumphant energy.
The Godson follows up Rockstar Lifestyle 2, a mixtape which earned positive notices from The FADER. In contrast to the darker-hued Slae Season tapes, Rockstar Lifestyle 2 is more celebratory and aspirational, with brighter beats and a wider complement of guests. LUCKI, Veeze, and Babyface Ray return for guest spots (the latter on local hit “Earned It“), while Dae also welcomes Karrahbooo and BabyTron for fun-loving team-ups.
DaeMoney is one of the most promising artists in a bustling Michigan rap scene. As a member of World Tour Mafia, along with associates Scoob, Milt, Money Miles, and Solid, Dae put an insular spin on the Detroit sound, keeping the hard-hitting drums and slick punchlines, while adding a narcotic flow and incorporating dark sonics to better suit a head-nodding headphones experience. After emerging in the rap scene in 2020 with the first Slae Season tape, produced in full by Detroit sound architect Top$ide, Dae reconnected with his father, and through him, met Babyface Ray, who Dae was surprised to find was his blood uncle. Since then, Dae and Ray have been frequent collaborators, earning praise from The FADER for their “consistent excellence.” Dae’s heady style earned him co-signs from kindred spirits like Veeze and LUCKI, who joined him on his cult hit, “Gta” in 2021. He further burnished his reputation in his city with his Slae Season series of mixtapes, including Slae Season 3, featuring “Who Is That” ft. LUCKI, Veeze & Babyface Ray, which has nearly 10 million streams on Spotify.
