Chappell Roan Gets The Job Done
Chappell Roan has quickly risen to fame in recent years, captivating listeners with her viral hits like “Good Luck, Babe,” “Casual,” and “HOT TO GO!” Known for her powerful vocals, danceable beats, and theatrical pop style, Chappell stands out in the pop music scene.
As a queer artist, she has become an icon in pop culture, using her music to explore her relationships and identity as a lesbain. With songs like “Red Wine Supernova” and “Femininomenon,” she celebrates lesbian romance and female sexual empowerment, offering playful and unapologetic lyrics. Her unique blend of camp and drag-queen-inspired aesthetics has created a vibrant fan community where women and the LGBTQ+ community can feel celebrated and seen.
Chappell speaks openly about her conservative and religious upbringing and how that has influenced her identity in her personal life and on stage. After feeling disconnected from her given name, she chose Chappell Roan to represent her stage presence. This name was inspired by her late grandfather Dennis K. Chappell and his favorite song “The Strawberry Roan” by Curley Fletcher.
This year, Chappell Roan has undoubtedly become one of the biggest pop stars on the charts. At the 2025 Grammys, she was nominated for six awards including Album of the Year for her breakout release The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Competing against artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Doechii, Chappell Roan took home the Grammy for Best New Artist.
Chappell Roan Releases “The Giver”
On March 13, Chappell Roan released her newest single titled “The Giver,” furthering the success of the midwest princess.
“The Giver” introduces queer representation to the country music scene. The song, inspired by the energy of Big & Rich’s “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” is filled with insinuations of lesbian romance, tied together with catchy banjo and fiddle melodies. Her vocals and accent, no doubt a result of her Missouri roots, blend perfectly to accomplish the authentic country music sound.
In November 2024, she debuted the song on Saturday Night Live, where she also performed her hit “Pink Pony Club.” During the performance, she snuck in an adlib that left her fans going crazy. She said, “All you country boys saying you know how to treat a woman right. Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right.” Followed by the chorus where she tells of her ability to “get the job done.”
In the past few weeks, her song has taken over social media due to her unique advertising methods. To gain attention for the release, Chappell Roan had a photoshoot in uniforms from various occupations including a dentist, a plumber, a cop, etc. She turned these photos into billboards, benches, and posters, and placed them all over the country playing on the lyric “She gets the job done.”
Chappell Roan’s music has taken the world by storm and has brought together the LGBTQ community for joy and strength through queer representation. Her powerful personality and talent inspire people to dance and celebrate who they are.
