Carlita & Justine Skye Release ‘WYWD’

Turkish-Italian producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Carlita joins forces with R&B-dance artist, Justine Skye, on their new single “WYWD,” out today via Ninja Tune. “WYWD” is the latest offering from Carlita’s forthcoming sophomore album, Telepathy, arriving November 6.

The collaboration brings Skye, who is fresh off her summer dance project, CANDY, into a record that expands Carlita’s club-rooted sound through songwriting, live instrumentation and warm, understated dance-pop. Across Telepathy, sleek grooves and psychedelic textures frame an exploration of human magnetism: the connections between people, memories and places.

Moving between R&B, pop and dance music, Justine Skye pairs soulful vocals with a growing focus on the freedom and physicality of the dancefloor. From her breakout single “Collide” to her role as Annika Longstreet on Grown-ish, she has built a career spanning music, screen and style. Her latest artistic chapter draws on the history of Black dance music, placing movement, pleasure and self-expression at its center.

That shared interest in the dancefloor as a space for self-expression and connection runs throughout Telepathy. As Carlita describes it, Telepathy  is “thinking about somebody or something with no attempt at possessing that thing, only for it to come into your life anyway.” The album explores the kinds of communication that never get spoken: the invisible thread between a person and their past, between lovers, and between someone and the world around them. Feminine, driving and groovy, its songs carry the feeling of the dancefloor into more intimate territory.

Alongside Justine Skye, the album features contributions from SOFI TUKKER, Paige Cavell, Stevie Appleton, Malive and more. Its singles have marked a breakthrough for Carlita at BBC Radio 1, with “Manhattan,” her collaboration with SOFI TUKKER, securing her first B List placement, and “Patchwork,” with Paige Cavell, earning her first Hottest Record.

The album’s visual world connects Carlita’s music and fashion interests, with creative direction by Pedro Damasceno and cover and album photography by Rafael Pavarotti, whose recent work includes Madonna, Charli XCX, Tyla and Addison Rae. Moving between intimacy and editorial finesse, the imagery extends the album’s exploration of invisible connections.

That creative world builds on Carlita’s relationships with Louis Vuitton, Chanel, FENDI and YSL Beauty, alongside appearances in Vogue Italia, GQ Italia and L’Officiel. Her Senza Fine event series has further brought music, fashion and art together through immersive experiences staged around New York Fashion Week.
