Carlile Releases “What Hurt Me The Most” For Debut Album

The singer and songwriter, Carlile, has released her new single “What Hurt Me The Most,” a track from her upcoming debut album, Human Human. With intimate and heartfelt lyrics accompanied by her beautiful and angelic background melodies, it is hard not to fall in love with the song. The artist revealed the meaning behind the track on social media, stating, “”What Hurt Me The Most” is an ode to staying when you know you should leave, and the self-forgiveness that follows.” The visualizer accompanying this track is short yet ethereal, with a few clips pieced together, you can already see Carlile’s creativity coming to life. This is the artist’s third and final single before the album’s release, with her songs “Illusion” and “The Single” coming first and second.

The album is complete with 10 songs and is set to release on August 30th. The title Human Human comes from a game Carlile used to play when she was younger. She stated in an Instagram post, “Human, alien, robot. Pick two to describe yourself, you can repeat and order matters. It’s my favorite icebreaker. I’m Human Human, what are you? (I have yet to meet a robot robot or an alien alien so I’m itching to have one of you freaks report!).” The first track, titled “Illusion,” has a synth beat that clashes perfectly with her soft yet powerful vocals. The music video for the song is a creative expression of Carlile’s mind, and visualizes the beats and lyrics perfectly.

The third track on the album, “The Single,” has a light and appealing sound that will put an immediate smile on your face. The visualizer to the song shows Carlile spinning slowly on a pink vinyl record, swaying and dancing lightly while singing the lyrics. In addition to the three tracks, two visualizers, and music video already released, Carlile and the Chicago-based record label, Sooper Records, have been promoting the album on various social media outlets since early June. As the album’s release draws closer, fans are growing eager to hear the rest of the tracks, some of which include “Neosporin,” “Fake Nice,” and “Keeping Me.” Keep an eye out for more exciting projects by Carlile; you won’t want to miss it.
