Calla Releases “Halfway (Remixes)”

Texas-born pop artist/singer-songwriter Calla steps into the next chapter of her career with “Halfway,” the lead single from her upcoming EP, Between 10PM & 4. Grounded in sharp self-awareness, the track finds the rising pop artist demanding clarity from a relationship caught between casual dating and real commitment. Written after an ex released a song about the effort he had put into their relationship, “Halfway” gives Calla the chance to tell her side of the story, setting the tone for an EP centered on personal growth, self-worth, and knowing when to demand more. Now, the songwriter has collaborated with producers Marc Baigent (Akon, Crystal Waters, Clean Bandit, Alex Mills, Fetty Wap) and Cutmore  (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Sia, Disclosure,Avicii ) to bring the single to the dancefloor with multiple remixes dropping October 2.

Raised in Richmond, Texas, just outside Houston, Calla grew up in a household where music rarely stayed in one lane. Her mother, an interior designer with a natural singing voice, and her guitar-playing father filled their home with everything from Beastie Boys, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden to country, gospel, and EDM. The Texas native started voice lessons around age six and earned her first solo in first grade, while dance gave her an early command of the stage. Journaling soon evolved into songwriting, giving the budding artist another way to put her experiences into words.

Throughout high school, Calla balanced music with competitive cheerleading and nationwide Hip-Hop dance competitions, earning bronze, silver, and gold at The Dance Worlds during her final three years. By senior year, the multidisciplinary performer committed fully to music and entered artist development with AMP U, where writing sessions, vocal and piano lessons, performance coaching, and studio work gave structure to her ambitions.

At 18, Calla moved to Nashville. When the pandemic brought her back to Texas, she turned the interruption into an opportunity to write extensively with songwriter Shane Stevens before eventually returning to Nashville. The emerging talent’s single “Solo” earned spins on SiriusXM, while “Self-Sabotage” expanded into a remix EP. She later reached a national audience on Season 24 of The Voice as a member of Gwen Stefani’s team, while also working as a personal assistant to country artist Sara Evans. A year later, Calla signed a publishing deal with Made In Memphis Entertainment and participated as a featured songwriter at a K-Pop writing camp for global entertainment company HYBE.

Her forthcoming EP, Between 10PM & 4, brings those years of writing, performing, and personal growth into focus. Written largely by the singer-songwriter, either independently or alongside collaborator Elizabeth Evans, the project explores relationships, independence, faith, and self-discovery while bringing her pop and R&B instincts together with the movement that first taught her how to command a stage. “Breathe,” a song she has held onto since she was 18, captures the freedom of leaving a relationship behind, while “Slippin’” folds Y2K dance energy into her pop-R&B sound, reconnecting the vocalist and dancer with her roots as a world-champion Hip-Hop dancer.

Faith remains central to Calla’s life and creative perspective. She sings and serves at her church and speaks openly about the beliefs that have carried her through the uncertainty of building a music career. That foundation runs through the ascendent artist’s songwriting, where vulnerability can coexist with confidence and setting boundaries does not mean sacrificing softness.

“I’m writing my version of the story,” Calla says. “I’m creating music that’s relatable and that I hope people can find comfort in, but I still have this sassiness to me.”

With “Halfway” and the forthcoming Between 10PM & 4, Calla introduces an artist shaped equally by songwriting and movement, vulnerability and confidence, with a sound and perspective distinctly her own.
