BAKAR RELEASES NEW ALBUM ‘HALO’

Today, British artist Bakar shares his highly-anticipated second album, Halo via Black Butter. In celebration of his album release, the Camden troubadour also drops his brand new single, “All Night”. A song fit for the indie sleaze generation, new single “All Night” overflows with melodic guitar riffs and hazy harmonies, conveying the complexities around affection and infatuation.

Consisting of 11 tracks, Halo explores Bakar’s dichotomy between the nomadic loneliness of a life constantly on the road and the “lifestyle” of being a musician. Predominantly recorded in AirBnb’s, hotels and homes from London to LA, Halo opens with “One In One Out” and is introduced by award-winning British rapper, and friend, Little Simz

As the album progresses, “Selling Biscuits” and “Invisible” explore Bakar’s candid vulnerability as an artist; meanwhile “Facts_Situations” features a melancholic trumpet melody from Mark Crown (Rudimental, J Hus) and is rounded off by a spoken word outro from model Mona Tougaard

Previous singles “I’m Done”, “Right Here, For Now” and “Alive!” appear on the album, as well as a brand new Summer Walker remix of Bakar’s platinum-selling viral smash “Hell N Back”, which serves as a bonus track.

In celebration of Halo, Bakar enlisted friend and self-proclaimed “scam artist”, Slawn to create alternative album artwork which appears on the limited edition cassette tape of the record. Split across four cases, Slawn’s interpretation of Halo is revealed when placed together.

Resisting categorization during his steady growth into the spotlight, Bakar offers all the lyrical prowess of a rapper, the virtuosic poise of a producer, and the pop craft of a singer-songwriter. Born in Camden, North London and raised on Choice FM, RnB CDs, and the Quran, Bakar’s early musical influences spanned from London’s burgeoning grime scene, to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and English indie acts like The Maccabees. He propelled into the limelight with his 2018 mixtape BADKID, produced with frequent collaborator Zach Nahome in what has become a fruitful partnership. His US AAA #1 single “Hell N Back” swiftly followed in 2019 – a track currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity, having peaked in the Top 20 of the UK Official Singles Chart – a career highlight for the young Brit.

Bakar will embark on the UK & European leg of The Halo Tour this November following his Australian run of headline shows. Kicking off in Milan on November 9th, Bakar will make his mark on venues across the continent before an eagerly-anticipated homecoming: performing two headline dates at Eventim Apollo on 27th & 28th November, respectively. The Halo Tour will conclude in Manchester with a further two sold-out shows at the Albert Hall. Canadian alternative breakthrough EKKSTACY and East London’s Tendai will support Bakar on the UK dates.

Armed with his indie rock signature sound, a sense of urgency and a truly independent mindset throughout the album, Halo encapsulates Bakar’s growth and maturity as an artist, unveiling a fresh vulnerability to his creative output.
