2025 VMAs Will Be On CBS And MTV

For what is the first time in MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) history, CBS will be broadcasting this year’s award show live from UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7th as well as streaming on Paramount+.

The VMAs have been a notable award show since 1984. The award show is designed to recognize and celebrate excellence in the music video industry. The VMAs feature various award categories including “Video of the Year,” Artist of the Year,” “Best New Artist,” and many more. This major event in the music and pop culture world is know for its performances, fashion, and buzz it generates.

The three-hour broadcast will simulcast on MTV, and a one-hour live pre-show will air across Paramount Media Networks. The 2024 VMAs delivered its biggest multi-network audience in four years, ranking as the most social VMAs in show history with 66.7 millions social interactions. To add on to MTV, the show was also simulcasted on BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV 2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1.

Mega-star Taylor Swift was nominated 10 times last year which led the pack at the award show til five wins in total including Artists of the Year and Video of the Year for “Fortnight,” her duet with Post Malone. Other wins came from Ariana Grande, Eminem, and SZA. Chappel Roan took home Best New Artist while Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year for her hit Espresso.

This year’s VMAs are executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic. Barb Bialkowski is co-executive producer. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba are executives in charge of production. Wendy Plaut is executive in charge of celebrity talent while Lisa Lauricella is executive in charge of music talent.

The 2025 nominations have not been announced just yet along with performers and some additional details. That information will be announced as the show gets closer.
