Sienna Spiro Shares New Single “Die On This Hill”

London-based singer/songwriter SIENNA SPIRO shares her breathtaking new single, “Die On This Hill.” Out now via Capitol Records, the ballad arrives as SIENNA continues her six-date run opening for Sam Smith during their hotly tipped residency “To Be Free: New York City” at Warsaw in Brooklyn.

The follow-up to “You Stole the Show” (a July release praised by the likes of CLASH, who hailed SIENNA as a “bona fide breakout talent”), “Die On This Hill” further reveals the 20-year-old artist’s knack for transforming heartache into songs with a strangely captivating power. “This song is about stubborn love – the kind that makes you stay when you know you should leave,” SIENNA explains.

A gorgeous showcase for SIENNA’s one-of-a-kind vocals, “Die On This Hill” came to life in collaboration with a top-tier lineup of co-producers: Omer Fedi (SZA, Lil Nas X), Michael Pollack (Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga), and Blake Slatkin (Sam Smith, Tate McRae). In a masterful accompaniment to SIENNA’s soulful voice and Pollack’s poignant piano work, the track also features an opulent string arrangement from three-time GRAMMY®-winner Rob Moose (a musician/arranger/composer known for his work with Lorde, Taylor Swift, and many more).

Co-written by SIENNAFedi, and Pollack“Die On This Hill” opens with a hushed simplicity as she sets the scene of a romance gone wrong (“Got me to stay/Said that you need me/Starved cause his words/Don’t have a meaning”). In a stunning display of her extraordinary vocal prowess, SIENNA balances the song’s unbridled emotion with an exquisite command of her instrument, channeling both aching desperation and fierce determination with equal intensity. As Moose’s string arrangement envelops the song in a spellbinding grandeur, “Die On This Hill” achieves a particularly powerful impact at its chorus: “You’d take my life/Just for the thrill/I’ll take tonight/And die on this hill.” The result: an epic heartbreak tale in just three and a half minutes.

Tonight, SIENNA will take the stage at historic Brooklyn venue Warsaw for her second night as support for Smith’s “To Be Free: New York City” residency — a highly anticipated event offering fans the rare chance to see the 5X GRAMMY®-winning superstar perform in an intimate setting; for more info, visit https://samsmith.world/ToBeFreeNYC. A DIY-minded artist who first started penning songs when she was only 10, SIENNA’s longtime influences include Frank Ocean, Etta James, Frank Sinatra, and Amy Winehouse. She soon began integrating jazz elements into her music while gently leaning toward a more contemporary sonic aesthetic. SIENNA possesses the type of voice that stays with you long after her music has left the room. As she continues to expand her sonic breadth and real-world reach, SIENNA will embark on a headlining UK/European tour in September. View the full itinerary HERE.
