Besphrenz “Stop & Smell the Roses”

Philly/Nashville trio Besphrenz are returning with “stop & smell the roses,” the newest single from their debut album bert (due October 24). “stop and smell the roses” is a continuation of the experimental, indie-R&B sound that characterized previous singles “yeah” (ft. Anthony Green + Keith Goodwin), “heart attack,” and “kozy.”

Heartfelt and optimistic, “stop & smell the roses” sees Besphrenz muse on the most important moments in their lives. The single is driven by subtle eclectic piano and colored by a canopy of synths and lo-fi percussion. It’s a call to pause, reflect, and embrace the unexpected, taking the hard times in stride while holding the good times at the forefront of your mind.

The accompanying visual is a surrealist take on the song’s namesake. Vocalist Tay Richardson sings with calm sincerity as his head emerges from a lush rose garden, a strange and symbolic nod to growth, reflection, and the track’s message to pause and take it all in.

Besphrenz make music for the in-between moments, the late-night drives, the inside jokes, the spaces where playfulness and nostalgia collide. Pronounced best friends, the Philly/Nashville trio has been inseparable since childhood, turning backyard jam sessions into a genre-bending project that refuses to sit still. Their songs blur the lines between indie-pop, R&B, and alt-rap, carrying the same boundless energy that’s fueled their friendship for years. With an ear for lush textures and a heart for storytelling, Besphrenz builds soundscapes that feel like memories half-remembered: playful, messy, and deeply human. Check out more music news here.
