Obed Padilla Shares New Song “50K”

Emerging Latin Alternative artist Obed Padilla sets his forthcoming EP, Do You Still Love Me?, for October 24 release via Julian Bunetta’s Big Family—pre-save/pre-order here. Obed shares his new song “50K” featuring fellow Californian and rising star Niko Rubio.

“‘50K’ came from a conversation I had with someone I thought was a homie,” says Obed. “They saw some videos of me online and made up their mind that I’m rich and literally asked me for a loan of $50,000…I got that text at the beginning of a session with Niko Rubio, Mikky Ekko and Afterhrs and the rest is history.”

“50K” follows single “Do You Still Love Me?,” the first taste of the project. The title track was born from the grueling end of Obed’s relationship, brought to life in Nashville with Mikky Ekko and later finished with the help of Afterhrs and Julian. The official music video, which features prominent professional wrestler Jessica “J-Rod” Roden, is currently nominated for a Hollywood Music Video Award—watch it here

Obed has spent years honing in on his sound––experimenting across genres, collaborating with legendary artists and performing to audiences across the country. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Obed was recently featured on the new Kacey Musgraves and Carín León duet, “Lost In Translation,” playing electric and acoustic guitar at the personal request of Julian Bunetta. He made his festival debut at Austin City Limits in 2024, played to audiences across the Southwest over the summer, and will head to San Diego’s Mission Bayfest this fall.

His deeply personal storytelling initially captivated millions on tracks like “Brown & Down Freestyle” and “Chicano Poetry,” preceding his much-lauded EP, They Told Us There’s 2 Types of MexicansObed Padilla’s music transcends genre, paying homage to his Oceanside upbringing, echoing inspirations from his pastor father’s hymns to Kid Cudi, Jack Johnson and The Beach Boys, while anchored by Mexican and Costa Rican roots. With more on the horizon, Obed cements himself as an innovator within the Latin Alternative space.
