Rockstar Energy Open 2025 Day One
The Rockstar Energy Open returned to the Rose City to another packed house on the first day of Skateboard competitions at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Musical performances by The Paradox and Face to Face closed out Friday.
Over the past two months, skateboarders from around the world were invited to submit skateboard video part entries via ThePlatfrm.com for the chance to win a spot to compete onsite at Rockstar Energy Open. The 20 winners competed today for the chance to earn a spot in the Men’s Street semifinal and the Women’s final.

In the Women’s Video Qualifying Series (VQS) On-site Qualifiers, the Japanese skaters claimed a sweep of the top three spots to advance to the final. Niko Sugimoto, Aoi Fukada and Yuri Ashizawa earned their spot to compete against the pros in Sunday’s Women’s Street Final.
In the Men’s VQS On-site Qualifiers, Malachai Gray earned the top position followed by Kristion Jordan and 11 year-old Wyatt Hammond. Seattle’s Nels Rosen earned the fifth and final transfer spot. They will compete against the pros in tomorrow’s Men’s Street Semifinal.

In Men’s Park Qualifiers, Olympic medalist Tom Schaar cruised to the top of the rankings with his first run that held off the other 23 riders for the rest of the qualifier. Recent X Games gold medalist Gavin Bottger landed in the second place ranking and Japan’s Yuro Nagahara finished in third, ending the competition with a bang as he stalled atop the Rockstar Energy logo feature. The top ten skaters advance to Sunday’s Men’s Park Final.
Tomorrow begins with the Women’s Park Final, followed by the Men’s Street Semi-Final, Park Best Trick Jam and Street Best Trick Jam. Musical guests Teen Mortgage will open for The Story So Far beginning immediately after the last competition at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the music stage.
