Funeral Of Icon Ozzy Osbourne Draws Huge Crowds
Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary lead singer of the era-defining band Black Sabbath, sadly passed away earlier this month. While fans and music lovers all over the world mourned, funeral preparations for the singer were already being made. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the thirtieth of July, and was celebrated by thousands of people who attended the funeral in person and those watching live coverage of the event.
Though the singer and founder of the iconic band has passed, it’s clear from the enormous and emotional crowd present on Wednesday that his spirit lives on in those who found companionship and solace in his music. At the time of the band’s foundation, the singers were essentially credited as being some of the pioneers of heavy metal music— and Osbourne, even though he was removed from the band in 1979, rejoined during the reunion tour. In the decades since the band’s foundation, they have consistently been one of the most commercially and critically successful acts in heavy-metal history.
Osbourne also embarked on a solo career, and released several records independently. Though these records were released separately from his work with the band, they were an extension of the legacy that Osbourne was a part of; albums such as “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman” were received positively by fans and critics alike. In fact, all his albums contained tracks that were widely popular both at the time of release and after.
Aside from his work in music, Osbourne also worked in the media and concert realm. Alongside his wife of 43 years, Sharon Osbourne, he founded “Ozzfest”, a massively successful concert event that was his biggest independent financial success. In addition, he also released “Life With The Osbournes”, a reality TV show in which fans got the opportunity to peak into the lives of rock royalty.
Throughout his long and intensely successful career, Osbourne embarked upon many various business and music ventures, all along never abandoning his commitment to originality and authenticity. His time with the band, solo albums, and media ventures allowed fans to peer into his life and genuine personality— and ensure that his legacy will live on long after his death.
