The Weeknd Sets Stadium Record In Inglewood

The Weeknd has been a longtime pop-sensation, with chart-topping singles and albums that emulate a unique, late-night, glitzy-city energy that’s captivated listeners for over a decade. He’s also managed to consistently stay at the top of Spotify’s “most streamed artist” lists since the release of the global phenomenon “Blinding Lights”. His most recent album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, featuring artists such as Playboi Carti, Lana Del Rey, and Future, came out on January 31, 2025 and delighted both fans and casual listeners. Alongside Playboi Carti, The Weeknd is currently embarking on his seventh tour, the “After Hours til Dawn Stadium Tour”. 

The Weeknd breaks the record for most sold-out shows by a male artist in SoFi Stadium history.

The tour was originally set to occur in 2020 to support “After Hours”, the fourth album by the Canadian singer. However, due to the onset panic of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour was postponed before finally beginning in 2022. It was rebranded as the “After Hours… til Dawn” tour to accommodate for the release of the singer’s subsequent album, “Dawn FM”. After the release of “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” a new setlist was implemented and the singer added more dates to the tour. 

After a string of sold-out shows that drew nearly 200,000 fans to SoFi stadium in Inglewood, the city declared June 25-29 “The Weeknd Week” to honor his historic run at the venue. With the inclusion of his previous shows at the venue, the singer now has a total of seven sold-out shows at the stadium— a record that seems nearly unbeatable.

Many fans feel such a connection to the show and the singer that they attended multiple shows. “I just wanted to be there and listen to [the music] as many times as I could,” said Sumar Kaur, of Irvine, CA, who attended all four nights of the show. “His music also helped me through my first ever break-up.” 

Even before setting this unprecedented record, The Weeknd has had the kind of career that many singers can only dream of. From performing at the Oscars to performing several sold-out shows consecutively, he’s demonstrated a dedication and success within his craft that very few people have. From the looks of it, this is just another in a long, ongoing list of achievements for the singer.
