LeBron James-led Lakers Eliminated What’s Next?

On the last day of April in 2025, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Lakers 103-96 which leads to the ‘Wolves advancing to the Western Conference Semi-Finals after their 4-1 victory. LeBron James ends his 22nd season on a bit of a sour note as he loses in the first round of the playoffs three out of the last four years.

James now has to face the annual questions on if he will retire or return to the league for his 23rd season next season. His response, as always is that he will talk with his family and his support staff and see how he feels during the summer and through the offseason.

Nothing new, but it does have me thinking about what song reminds me of this time of the year when it comes around for the King. Taking it all the way back to 1982, the Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” is quite literally the perfect representation of this situation for LeBron James.

“Should I stay or should I go?

It’s always tease, tease, tease

You’re happy when I’m on my knees

One day it’s fine and next it’s black

So if you want me off your back

Well, come one and let me know

Should I stay or should I go?”

Since joining the league, LeBron James has been getting hate and slander on his name. A lot of people in the country and maybe events word get excited to see his downfall despite how great he’s been throughout his career. Throughout it all, James kept going and persevered winning four NBA titles and dominating the league as he cements himself as the possible Greatest of all Time.

Regarding the retirement situation, “Should I Stay or Should I Go” is a real question for the king. James has the entire offseason to think about his basketball future, but if he was to stay in the NBA for another season, the hope is that the Lakers get a developed center to pair with recently traded superstar Luka Doncic on top of having the arguable GOAT in James to be the anchor.
