Mondaze Lets It ‘Linger’ With ‘Lines Of You’
Just ahead of their second album ‘Linger’ Italy-based shoegaze band Mondaze releases the album’s opening track, ‘Lines Of You’. The band already released two prior singles from the album, giving fans a preview into this new world they’ve created.
The song tackles the struggles of loneliness through a heavy guitar line and reverb. Mondaze released a video along with the single. Demonstrating visually the feeling of missing someone who once was in your life. For example, in the video, an outline of a bright figure appears illustrating the gap of the missing person. The song is about struggling to accept the absence of a person close to you. They took the common experience of missing someone and created their artistic version of that feeling. Musically the track has a 90s shoegaze feel similar to the vibe of Mazzy Star or Slowdive. The band says the bands that inspire them include ‘Swervedriver’ and ‘Ride’.
Mondaze Shares Their Rage And Melancholy
Mondaze aims to amplify aspects of their sound with their new record ‘Linger’, which ‘Lines Of You’ is on. In this second record, the band wants to show their anger and frustration with melodically eerie sounds. Although the band largely achieved this themselves, they enlisted the help of Chris Fullard from Idles and Maurizio Baggio from The Soft Moon to mix and master the record to further intensify the rage the band wanted to convey. So far, all of the singles released have a similar and familiar shoegaze atmosphere. But they stand independently from one another as well. . ‘Linger’ the album’s title track focuses on again that feeling of longing and nostalgia for another time. All three immerse the listener into Mondaze’s dreamy world of love, loss, and the impact those feelings have. These three singles set the tone for the 22nd of November when the second Mondaze album is finally released for fans to experience.
