Rawayana & Akapellah Break The Internet With “Veneka”

Rawayana has done it again. The Venezuelan band has gone viral on social media with “VENEKA,” their new collaboration with Akapellah, which is now available on all digital platforms.

Although the group planned to release the single later, a leaked song fragment went viral on social media, prompting them to advance its release, to their fans’ delight.

VENEKA” celebrates Venezuelan women’s beauty, diversity, and empowerment. Both visually and musically, the song takes listeners back to early 2000s Venezuela, incorporating nostalgic elements such as 90s and 2000s Raptor House (known in Venezuelan slang as changa) and featuring the special participation of Waldemaro Martínez, one of the country’s most iconic radio hosts and the distinctive voice of Venezuelan parties and mobile discos.

The track has quickly become the soundtrack for thousands of TikTok and Instagram creations while also achieving Rawayana’s biggest streaming debut on Spotify to date. It accumulated 2 million streams in its first week on the platform and reached #1 on Spotify’s Top 50 Venezuela chart within 24 hours of its release. The single’s cover art, reminiscent of the iconic burned CDs once sold on the country’s streets, adds another layer of nostalgia to the project.

With the song’s title, Rawayana set out to reclaim a term historically used to discriminate against Venezuelans in some Latin American countries, transforming it into a symbol of pride and empowerment that celebrates Venezuelan identity.

The band is wrapping up their “¿Quién Trae Las Cornetas?” tour, which has included over 100 shows and achieved sold-out performances in cities like Santiago de ChileBuenos AiresBogotáMadridLos AngelesMiami, and Mexico City.
